Dhamar: Dhamar governor Mohammed al-Bukhaiti inaugurated Najm al-Jazeera Hospital in Dhamar City on Thursday, marking a significant addition to the healthcare sector and highlighting the role of private investment in improving medical services. The inauguration ceremony, held on the occasion of National Resilience Day, was attended by parliament and Shura Council members, along with local officials.
According to Yemen News Agency, Governor al-Bukhaiti described the hospital as a qualitative step forward in enhancing healthcare services and alleviating the suffering of citizens. He emphasized the importance of the private sector's contribution to essential services such as health and education, stressing that patient care must remain the top priority, with profit as a secondary consideration. He also called on private hospitals to provide high-quality services at reasonable costs and avoid practices that place unnecessary financial burdens on patients, such as excessive testing or inflated treatment fees.
Al-Bukhaiti highlighted the need to expand specialized medical services, including advanced procedures like cochlear implants, organ transplants, and neurosurgery, to reduce the need for patients to travel outside Dhamar Governorate or abroad for treatment. He affirmed that local authorities would support such initiatives through incentives and facilitation.
For her part, Khairiya Ahmed, Deputy Director of the Provincial Health Office, stressed the importance of integrating efforts between public and private healthcare institutions to better serve vulnerable populations. She called on private hospitals to uphold their humanitarian responsibilities, particularly in handling emergency cases. She also encouraged medical professionals to dedicate time to volunteer work at Dhamar General Hospital, reinforcing its role as a primary healthcare provider in the governorate.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Al-Junaid, Chairman of Najm Al-Jazeera Hospital, said the project is the result of three years of work. The hospital's first phase includes seven floors with 90 beds, among them intensive care units and incubators, as well as fully equipped operating rooms and specialized clinics. He added that a second phase is underway, which will include a specialized surgical center and a comprehensive cardiology center offering advanced procedures such as cardiac catheterization. The hospital also aims to become a scientific and research hub through partnerships with academic and medical institutions.
Hospital Director Abdulmalik al-Hatari stated that the facility represents a major step forward in healthcare development, combining modern medical technologies with patient-centered care to improve treatment outcomes and contribute to building a healthier society.
