Hodeidah: Al-Dreihimi Agricultural Cooperative Association in Al-Dreihimi District, Hodeidah Governorate, received a new batch of solar energy systems as part of an economic empowerment initiative for local farmers. This project is funded by the General Authority for Zakat in collaboration with the General Authority for Small and Micro Enterprises Development.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the handover ceremony, Jaber Kyal, head of the association, highlighted that the solar systems aim to reduce production costs for farmers while turning existing challenges into opportunities for sustainable development. He commended the support from the Zakat Authority and the Small and Micro Enterprises Development Authority for their role in empowering Yemeni farmers and enhancing their ability to withstand ongoing aggression and blockade.
Kyal emphasized the association's commitment to driving a significant transformation in the district's agricultural sector through the use of these solar systems, with a focus on achieving self-sufficiency and improving food security. Additionally, Saber Zubairi, head of the association's date unit, and engineer Ziad Jaafar noted that these systems are crucial for developing value chains, especially in the dates sector and for cash crops that need consistent irrigation.
