Al-hodeidah: Al-Hodeidah Governor Abdullah Atifi, accompanied by the Chairman of the Board of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Hadrami, inspected the progress of the Al-Kaddan Bridge project, which links the governorates of Al-Hodeidah and Al-Mahwit. The governor reviewed the project's completion level in the presence of Member of Parliament Abdo Baghoui and Deputy Governor for Northern Districts Affairs Ghaleb Hamza.
According to Yemen News Agency, the project is being implemented by the General Authority for Roads and Bridges at a cost of 360 million riyals, funded by the Road Maintenance Fund and supervised by the Governorate's Public Works sector. Governor Atifi, along with his team, was briefed on the final stages of the executed works and the remaining tasks in preparation for the project's completion and operation. The team included the Director General of Bridges and Construction at the Authority, Engineer Adnan Ibrahim; the Authority's branch director in the governorate, Ibrahim Sharaf Al-Din; the Public Works office director, Engineer Mohammed Mathna; and the head of the supervisory team from the Road Maintenance Fund, Engineer Zaid Al-Moushki.
The governor outlined the significance of the Al-Kaddan Bridge, highlighting its role in facilitating transportation between Al-Hodeidah and Al-Mahwit, easing the burdens on citizens, and supporting the movement of goods, particularly in rural areas reliant on this route. He emphasized the local authority's focus on infrastructure projects in roads and bridges due to their importance in promoting local development and serving citizens. The project is also anticipated to enhance road safety and mitigate risks previously faced by travelers.
Governor Atifi underscored the necessity of completing the remaining works in line with approved technical and engineering specifications to ensure the project's sustainability and quality. He praised the efforts of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, the Public Works office, and the Road Maintenance Fund in implementing this strategic initiative.
In a statement, the Chairman of the Board of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges noted that the work on the Al-Kaddan Bridge has reached its final stages, with a completion rate of 98 percent. He remarked that technical and engineering teams are working intensively to finalize the remaining tasks promptly. The project is part of the Authority's broader strategy to execute road and bridge projects across several governorates, aimed at enhancing road networks, linking districts and governorates, and facilitating transport and mobility for citizens.
The inspection visit was attended by the directors of Bajil and Al-Dahi districts, Abdelmonem Al-Rifai and Abdulhaq Khbal, along with members of the project supervisory team, including Engineers Mohammed Gilan, Ali Al-Samawi, Amjad Al-Kamal, and other specialists.
