Al-hodeidah: Al-Hodeidah Governor, Abdullah Atiifi, inspected on Sunday the progress of work in one of the successful agricultural models applying the 'intercropping' technique in Bajil District. During the visit, accompanied by District Director Abdulmoneim Al-Rifai, Head of the Bajil Agricultural Cooperative Association Adel Sam, and District Coordinator Hadi Al-Hij, the governor reviewed the experience, which includes the cultivation of soybean, maize, and millet crops within a single agricultural area.
According to Yemen News Agency, the governor listened to a briefing from those in charge of the project on the mechanisms of implementing intercropping and its impact in improving the efficiency of land use and increasing agricultural production. He emphasized the importance of scaling up such successful models due to their role in enhancing agricultural output.
Al-Hodeidah Governor praised the level of success achieved by the experiment, attributing it to farmers' commitment to proper agricultural practices. He reaffirmed that the provincial leadership attaches great importance to the agricultural sector, in line with the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council. Atiifi considered the expansion of intercropping a key approach to maximizing the utilization of available agricultural lands and improving production efficiency, contributing to sustainable development and food self-sufficiency.
For his part, the district director and the head of the association stated that this model reflects the outcome of continuous follow-up and agricultural extension services provided by the association and its relevant units. They confirmed that these efforts are part of a plan to expand value chains and vertically develop crops to ensure production sustainability and improve farmers' incomes.
