Sana'a: The Main and Executive Committee for organizing model roundabouts in the Capital Secretariat convened on Sunday under the leadership of Hammoud Al-Nuqib. The meeting focused on discussing coordination mechanisms and joint efforts to implement the general plan for organizing major intersections in Sana'a.
According to Yemen News Agency, the gathering was attended by officials from relevant authorities and the National Program for Addressing Begging. The participants reviewed the draft implementation plan, which outlined the roles and responsibilities of the entities involved in the project.
Al-Nuqib underscored the plan's objective to address negative phenomena at roundabouts, such as unregulated street vending, begging, and visual distortions, which have an impact on traffic flow and the city's aesthetics. The committee members highlighted the importance of enhanced coordination among government, security, and community bodies to ensure the adoption of effective and sustainable solutions.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the necessity to regulate street vendors, improve traffic safety, alleviate congestion, and economically empower targeted groups, while also tackling professional begging. The National Program for Addressing Begging presented its objectives, stressing the plan's focus on long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes.
The session concluded with several recommendations, including reviewing the implementation mechanism, preparing detailed proposals for the subsequent meeting, incorporating the technical education sector into the committee, and conducting field assessments of targeted sites.
