Al hodeidah: An awareness workshop on occupational health and safety was held on Thursday in Al Hodeidah Governorate under the slogan 'Together for Workers' Safety and a Safe, Productive, and Sustainable Work Environment.' The event was organized by the Office of Social Affairs and Labor and targeted occupational health and safety officers in industrial facilities across the governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor for Labor Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Haidar, emphasized the importance of strengthening occupational health and safety concepts and standards in workplaces. This initiative aims to protect workers, reduce occupational accidents and injuries, and enhance performance efficiency and productivity in industrial establishments. He highlighted the ministry's focus on developing safe work environments through partnerships with the private sector and relevant institutions, in alignment with national labor laws and regulations.
The Director of the Office of Social Affairs and Labor in the governorate, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sayigh, explained that the workshop's goal is to raise awareness among occupational safety officers about the importance of implementing prevention and protection measures. This effort is expected to promote a culture of safety in industrial work environments, positively impacting sustainable production and the protection of human capital.
The Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mohammed Al-Hattami, stressed the importance of cooperation between government entities and the private sector in applying occupational safety standards. He praised national companies for their role in providing safe working environments.
Additionally, the Director of the General Administration of Occupational Health and Safety at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Mohammed Abdulqadous, presented on occupational health and safety concepts, key risks in industrial work environments, prevention mechanisms, and compliance with approved requirements and standards.
The workshop featured interventions by representatives of companies and industrial establishments, who shared best practices and practical experiences in occupational safety. Participants also engaged in discussions and exchanges of views on ways to develop safe and sustainable work environments.
