Muscat: The Prophet Muhammad Football Championship commenced today in Al-Zuhrah District, Al Hodeidah Governorate. The event is organized by the district's Youth and Sports Office and is sponsored by the Ministry of Youth and Sports along with the local authority and general mobilization leadership of the governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, five teams are participating in this championship. The tournament is structured on a single round-robin basis and is set to unfold over 15 days. This format ensures that all teams have an equal opportunity to vie for the championship title.
In the opening match of the tournament, Majd Al-Marabiah and Jeel Al-Khashm played to a 2-2 draw in a tightly contested game. Both teams earned one point each as they embarked on their quest for the championship.
The championship is part of a broader agenda of sports and youth activities in Al-Zuhrah District, aimed at celebrating the Prophet Muhammad's birthday. The initiative seeks to foster sports and youth engagement and to encourage the participation of young people and athletes in line with religious occasions.
