Taiz: Acting Governor of Taiz Ahmed Al-Masawa inspected on Sunday the extensive destruction and severe damage caused by Saudi enemy airstrikes targeting the headquarters of the local authority in the province.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the visit, Al-Masawa condemned the Saudi attack on the local authority headquarters, describing it as another crime added to what he called the Saudi enemy's record of crimes against the Yemeni people over the past 12 years. He noted that the bombing caused injuries and inflicted severe material and psychological damage on nearby residents, including displaced people living in adjacent buildings.
Al-Masawa stated that the attack was the second of its kind following the bombing of the local authority building in Khadir District several days ago. He noted that it was preceded by multiple attacks targeting purely civilian infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and civilians, which he said reflected the continued targeting of infrastructure and citizens.
The acting governor expressed the local authority's condemnation of the attack and what he described as Saudi Arabia's continued airstrikes and crimes committed by forces aligned with it, holding the Saudi regime and its affiliates fully responsible. He said targeting civilians and government institutions constitutes a war crime and a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian laws and conventions.
Al-Masawa stressed that the attack was not an isolated incident but part of a series of what he described as reckless actions, adding that attempts to frighten civilians and displaced people would not achieve any gains. He called on residents of the province to strengthen unity, remain steadfast, patient, exercise restraint, and avoid being drawn into random reactions.
The acting governor warned Saudi Arabia and its affiliated forces against continuing escalation and taking reckless steps, stressing that targeting civilians, civilian objects, and facilities would not achieve their objectives, and would only result in further consequences and losses. He also called on those who had been misled to take advantage of the general amnesty and return to the national ranks, urging them not to be swayed by promises or pressures that serve neither their interests nor those of their families and communities. He said returning to the national ranks remains an option for those seeking to correct their position and end what he described as a state of manipulation and exploitation.
