Taiz: Acting Governor of Taiz Ahmed Al-Maswai inaugurated on Wednesday a Women's Development Center project in Khadir District, equipped with 20 sewing, weaving, and leathercraft machines, as part of activities marking the 1448 AH anniversary of the Prophet Mohammed's birth. The project aims to improve the livelihoods of productive families by providing production tools, supplies, and forming specialized production groups operating through value-chain systems.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Maswai stated that such projects translate the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership to support productive sectors, ease citizens' hardships, and enable productive families to become self-reliant. He emphasized that the local authority prioritizes women's economic empowerment programs as a crucial means of improving living standards and creating sustainable job opportunities.
Al-Maswai further stressed the necessity to expand similar projects across the governorate's districts, utilizing local skills and capacities to boost production and achieve self-sufficiency. He highlighted the importance of developing women's handicraft and industrial skills and supporting initiatives that provide locally made clothing at lower costs and higher quality.
Deputy Governor for Development Affairs Abdul-Wasea Al-Shamsi mentioned that the center will coordinate with the governorate's Office of Economy and Industry to provide production inputs through concessional loan agreements, support the marketing of finished products, and link production centers across districts with local traders to ensure competitive prices for consumers. He noted that the project includes specialized workshops targeting production-center officials, group facilitators, partners, and relevant entities, aiming to build capacities, coordinate efforts, and improve the livelihoods of productive families.
