Hajjah: Hajjah governor Hilal Al-Soufi launched on Wednesday a seed cleaning and screening process in Abs District today in preparation for the 1448 AH agricultural season. The initiative is designed to enhance the quality of seeds and increase agricultural productivity in the region.
According to Yemen News Agency, the initiative is being implemented by the Abs Multipurpose Cooperative Association under the supervision of the General Corporation for Grain Development and Production and Sahool Yemen Company. The primary goal is to improve seed quality, increase crop yields, and promote intensive farming practices.
Officials have indicated that proper seed screening could potentially increase productivity by about 30 percent. They have urged farmers to utilize the service to enhance crop quality and lower production costs, which could be a significant benefit for the local farming community.
The initiative is focusing on various types of grains, including maize, sorghum, millet, and barley. Locally manufactured seed screens are being used for the cleaning and screening process, highlighting the use of domestic resources in agricultural development efforts.
