Al Noor’s Free Cataract Camp Concludes in Capital Secretariat

Sana'a: The 228th free camp for cataract removal and lens implantation, organized by Al-Nibras Health Association in collaboration with Al-Tawasul Foundation for Humanitarian Development, concluded its activities on Thursday at the Al-Alaya Medical Complex in the Al-Sabaeen district.

According to Yemen News Agency, the camp, which ran from April 14 to 17, was coordinated with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the General Directorate of Camps, and the Health Office. The initiative aimed to perform 315 surgeries to remove cataracts and implant lenses, provide medication, and conduct examinations for over 2,500 individuals from low-income backgrounds in the Secretariat and nearby areas.

Dr. Abdulhak Al-Ashwal, Executive Director of Al-Nibras Society, highlighted the significant demand the camp experienced from people unable to afford the costs of treatment and operations. In response, the number of surgeries was increased from the initially planned 250 to 315 free operations. He appealed to businessmen and organizations to support free medical camps and initiatives focused on eye care and fighting blindness.
