Brasilia: A Chinese delegation visited Brazil to promote Asian trade relations and discuss major infrastructure projects, including a railway project linking the South American country to a huge port in Chancay, Peru.

According to Yemen News Agency, Joao Villaverde, secretary for institutional coordination at the Brazilian Ministry of Planning, told the newspaper that the meeting followed strategic agreements signed by Presidents Luiz In¡cio Lula da Silva and Xi Jinping last November during the Chinese leader's state visit. At that time, the two governments established Brazil's integration with the Pacific as one of the four strategic pillars of Sino-Brazilian relations.

Villaverde said on Wednesday: "This is the beginning of a technical relationship for in-depth studies, especially in the field of railroads... This is the beginning of a technical relationship for in-depth studies, especially in railroads."

The delegation toured several projects across the country during the seven-day trip, which began last Friday.
