Sana'a: Hussein Al-Qamli from the Veterinary Institute has emerged victorious in the inaugural Government and Private Universities Equestrian Championship, held at the Sana'a Unity Club during the seventh winter forum.
According to Yemen News Agency, Usama Al-Shamari from Al-Rashid University took the runner-up position, while Sakhr Al-Futi from the Specialized University secured third place. The championship brought together 26 riders from 12 universities, engaging in intense competitions aimed at fostering a love for equestrian sports among students and reviving this traditional heritage.
Officials emphasized that the event marks a significant move towards revitalizing university activities and embedding equestrianism as a sustainable sport within academic realms, aligning with Yemen's rich cultural identity. The competition also aimed at forming a university equestrian team and equipping participants with new skills in managing various race styles.
The event concluded with a ceremony where the top five winners were honored with cups and colored medals, attended by dignitaries from the sports and education sectors.
