Al-Tuhayta Hosts Folk Heritage Carnival to Celebrate Date Season

Al-tuhayta: Al-Tuhayta District in Hodeidah Governorate hosted a folk heritage carnival marking the 1448 AH date season. The event was organized by the local authority and the district's General Mobilization in cooperation with the Good Town Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Association.

According to Yemen News Agency, the festival was held under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and the Agricultural Cooperative Union, with funding from the governorate's Executive Unit for Agricultural, Fisheries Projects and Initiatives. It aimed to celebrate the date season and highlight Al-Tuhayta's agricultural and folk heritage.

At the event, Deputy Governor for Services Affairs Mohammed Hulaissi emphasized the importance of supporting local farmers, boosting date and crop production, and expanding palm cultivation and marketing to increase its economic returns. District Mobilization official Sadiq Futaini highlighted the festival's role in showcasing agricultural production and local heritage, praising farmers and residents for their participation.

The festival featured poetry and folklore performances, equestrian shows, horse races, as well as traditional displays and sword dances reflecting Al-Tuhayta's cultural heritage. At the conclusion, attended by District Director Adel Ahaif and officials of the Good Town Association, a number of outstanding farmers were honored in recognition of their efforts to develop agricultural production and improve date quality.
