Muscat: The inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman reached 3.2 percent during July compared to the same month in 2025, while the average inflation rate during the period from January to July of the current year stood at 2.9 percent.
According to Yemen News Agency, data from the Consumer Price Index issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information in the Sultanate showed that the food and non-alcoholic beverages group recorded the highest annual increase among the main groups at 7.3 percent year-on-year, followed by the transport group at 6.5 percent, then the miscellaneous goods and services group at 5.3 percent, restaurants and hotels at 3.6 percent, and furniture, household equipment, and routine household maintenance at 3.1 percent.
Prices in the education group rose by 2.2 percent, health by 1.7 percent, and culture and recreation by 0.4 percent.
In contrast, prices in the communications, tobacco, and clothing and footwear groups remained unchanged compared to July of the previous year, while the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels group recorded a decline of 0.6 percent.
Regarding the food and non-alcoholic beverages group, the data indicated price increases in a number of sub-groups compared to July 2025; vegetable prices rose by 19.9 percent, fruits by 15.8 percent, meat by 8.7 percent, fish by 5.7 percent, and non-alcoholic beverages by 3.3 percent.
Prices of sugar, jam, honey, and confectionery rose by 2.4 percent, milk, cheese, and eggs by 2.2 percent, other food products not classified elsewhere by 2.1 percent, bread and cereals by 1.0 percent, and oils and fats by 0.5 percent compared to the same month in 2025.
