Allamah Miftah Affirms Government Support for Medical Council to Enhance Its Oversight Duties


Sanaa: Acting Prime Minister Mohammed Miftah affirmed the government’s support for the Medical Council to enable it to carry out its fundamental role in advancing the medical and pharmaceutical professions, conducting field oversight of practitioners’ performance, and reducing medical errors.



According to Yemen News Agency, this affirmation came during his meeting on Monday with the Council’s Chairman, Abdulkarim Shaiban, Vice Chairman Mohammed Al-Mahdhar, and members of the Council. The meeting, attended by Minister of Health and Environment Ali Shaiban, focused on the Council’s conditions and the level of implementation of its plans and assigned duties in accordance with the law. This includes the protection of patients’ rights, as well as addressing the material and technical difficulties it faces.



The Council Chairman reviewed the Council’s main activities, the challenges and issues it encounters, ways to address them, and the importance of government support to enable the Council to perform its duties effectively. The focus remains on advancing the medical professions in all aspects and regulating and monitoring the performance of practitioners in cooperation with various relevant and concerned authorities.



The Acting Prime Minister expressed optimism that the Council’s performance would improve following its reconstitution. He affirmed that the government would work to overcome the difficulties facing the Council, whether in the oversight field or in meeting urgent needs to facilitate its field operations. He praised the efforts of the Chairman and members of the Medical Council and their dedication, noting the hopes placed on the Council to reduce professional issues, including medical errors, negligence, and violations.



Allamah Miftah also emphasized that integrated efforts between the Ministry of Health, the Medical Council, and other supporting entities would elevate this noble profession and provide high-quality healthcare services to the community. He stressed the importance of ongoing coordination with all relevant parties to achieve the shared goals of improving medical practice and combating errors.
