Amran: The Board of Directors of the Amran Cleanliness and Improvement Fund, led by Amran Governor and Board Chairman Dr. Faisal Juma'an, convened on Wednesday to assess the Fund's performance and discuss initiatives aimed at enhancing sanitation and urban development in the provincial capital and its districts.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting focused on evaluating plans designed to improve the environmental services and urban aesthetics of the provincial capital. Board members examined a comprehensive report by the Fund's Executive Director, Abbas al-Mutawakel, which detailed key waste management activities undertaken in the first half of 2026. The report also evaluated the field services provided to residents and highlighted achievements in landscaping and urban improvement projects.
Additionally, the report addressed the Fund's 1448 AH plan, outlining the primary challenges hindering its operations and proposed practical solutions to maintain efficient public services. Issues such as the proliferation of informal markets causing traffic congestion and impacting the city's appearance, alongside abandoned vehicles obstructing public roads, were discussed.
The board approved several development initiatives, including tree-planting projects along major roads and entry points of the provincial capital, maintenance and enhancement of street lighting, and a campaign to eradicate stray dogs in Maswar District and the provincial capital. Participants highlighted the need for robust environmental awareness programs and advocated for a community-wide culture of cleanliness.
Governor Juma'an underscored the importance of strengthened coordination between government bodies and the community, urging increased participation by volunteer initiatives, media professionals, and religious figures in fostering environmental consciousness and promoting proper waste management. He called on authorities to collaborate with the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund to remove illegal structures and waste, enhancing the appearance of the provincial capital.
The governor reiterated his support for advancing sanitation, environmental improvement, and administrative performance while emphasizing the enhancement of monitoring, evaluation, and field oversight systems.
