Amran: Protest rallies were held across Amran governorate on Friday condemning Israel’s announcement recognizing Somaliland as an independent entity, a move participants described as a violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and a threat to regional stability. Participants said the decision reflects broader regional policies and denounced ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza, the West Bank, and attacks on Syria and Lebanon.
According to Yemen News Agency, the participants also criticized what they described as silence from Arab and Islamic countries in response to these developments. A statement issued at the rallies expressed solidarity with the Palestinian and Somali peoples and called on Arab and Islamic states, particularly those bordering the Red Sea, to take practical steps to prevent further regional escalation.
The statement concluded by reaffirming continued public mobilization and solidarity with Gaza and the Palestinian cause.
