Annual Conference of Yemeni Scholars Condemns Saudi Blockade and Aggression

General

Sana'a: The annual conference of scholars, titled "Yemeni Scholars in the Face of Aggression and Blockade," was held today in Sana'a, the capital. Organized by the Yemeni Scholars Association, the conference commemorated the Prophet's birthday (Mawlid) for the year 1448 AH, drawing inspiration from the verse: "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves."

According to Yemen News Agency, the conference, which gathered a group of scholars from Sana'a and various governorates across the country, was attended by Acting Prime Minister Muhammad Muftah. The event expressed support for leadership decisions, the operations of the armed forces, and reaffirmed ongoing support for Gaza, while addressing developments in the Islamic world.

At the conference, Grand Mufti of Yemen and head of the Scholars Association, Shams al-Din Sharaf al-Din, emphasized that the criterion for all stances should be "pleasing Allah," regardless of other considerations or fears of consequences. He called for responsible stances on the critical stage the nation and the Muslim world are facing, highlighting the Saudi blockade's humanitarian impact over 11 years, which claimed more lives than enemy fire.

He stated the blockade caused more than 27,000 deaths, compared to over 24,000 from airstrikes and shelling. The Grand Mufti criticized Saudi Arabia's continued siege, contrasting their cruelty with the tenderness of the Yemeni people as described by the Prophet Muhammad.

Grand Mufti Sharaf al-Din condemned the Saudi regime for its actions, including the alleged legalizing of practices forbidden in Islam. He affirmed Yemen's need for lifting the blockade and ending aggression to utilize its resources, criticizing mercenaries for their betrayal.

The conference called upon scholars to support Muslim world causes and declare their positions on Yemen, Palestine, and other issues without fear of repercussions. The Grand Mufti warned against the influence of financial bribery to buy loyalties, stressing the importance of rejecting such corruption.

The conference also saw presentations by other scholars, including Sheikh Hussein Al-Haddar, who emphasized the importance of commemorating the Prophet's birthday and called for lifting the blockade. Sheikh Abdulmajid al-Houthi praised Yemeni scholars' role in supporting national and Palestinian causes, emphasizing adherence to truth and faith.

Sheikh Ali Adhabi discussed the responsibility of Yemeni scholars in upholding faith, emphasizing the need for retaliation against aggression. Other speakers, like Sheikh Ahmed Abu Huriya and Sheikh Mohammed Karsh, discussed the importance of jihad and resistance against aggression, calling on scholars to lead by example and continue the fight for justice.

The conference concluded with a call to action for unity and perseverance in the face of ongoing challenges, drawing strength from religious teachings and the example of the Prophet Muhammad.
