Hodeida: Head of the General Authority for Antiquities and Museums, Abad Al-Hayal, inspected the condition of key historical landmarks in Hodeidah city. During the visit, Al-Hayal reviewed the structural condition and needs of several sites, including the historic Al-Sour neighborhood, the Grand Mosque, Al-Corniche Castle, the former antiquities office building, and Bab Mushrif.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Hayal toured old buildings and archaeological sites, receiving briefings on their historical significance, damage caused by natural factors, and restoration requirements. He emphasized the importance of joint official and community efforts to protect cultural heritage, describing the preservation of historical sites as vital to safeguarding Yemen's identity.
Al-Hayal also affirmed the authority's commitment to expanding protection and restoration programs in Hodeidah, given its rich historical significance. Local officials highlighted ongoing challenges and the need for greater support to maintain and restore heritage sites, ensuring their preservation for future generations.
