Hodeida: Mayor of Sana'a Dr. Hammoud Ubad, along with a development team, visited Hodeida governorate to evaluate community initiatives and agricultural projects, aiming to apply successful strategies to boost development efforts in the capital.
According to Yemen News Agency, the delegation included key officials such as Hammoud Al-Naqeeb, Mazen Numan, Mohammed Saree, Dr. Abdulwahab Sharaf, Nasser Al-Kuhali, and representatives from the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects Funding Unit, including Abdullah Sharaf and his deputy Samir Hamza. They assessed projects related to irrigation, maintenance of drainage canals, and the Wadi Moor diversion barrier.
Hodeida officials shared insights on projects executed in collaboration with the Al-Zuhra Cooperative Society and discussed the Authority's role in land reclamation and providing agricultural guidance. The visit highlighted the diversion barrier servicing approximately 25,000 hectares via two canals-the northern canal spanning 19 km and the southern canal covering 24 km.
The team also reviewed the maintenance initiative of the seven-kilometer-long Al-Dar'aniyah Canal, spearheaded by the Al-Zuhra Society with community support, which facilitates the irrigation of around 8,000 feddans of agricultural land.
