Cairo: The ministerial committee, mandated by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Gaza, along with 23 countries, the Arab League, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, has issued a strong condemnation of Israel's plan to impose full military control over Gaza.
According to Nam News Network, the joint statement released by the foreign ministries of countries including Egypt, Palestine, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and several more, described Israel's intentions as a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law. The statement emphasized that the planned military actions are an attempt to enforce an illegal occupation, going against international legitimacy.
The statement further warned that Israel's actions constitute continued grave violations such as killings, forced displacement, and annexation of Palestinian land. These actions, according to the committee, amount to crimes against humanity.
In related developments, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met in Cairo. They voiced their rejection of any military re-occupation of Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire. Their joint statement highlighted the need for urgent humanitarian aid and the release of hostages, while also rejecting the displacement of Palestinians.
Since late July, the international airdrop operation in Gaza has seen the participation of 11 countries, delivering over 1,100 aid packages. Greece and Italy have recently joined this initiative, collaborating with the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Despite these efforts, United Nations officials and experts argue that the airdrops have minimal impact on the humanitarian crisis. They stress that significant relief can only be achieved if Israel opens land crossings to allow more comprehensive aid and medical treatment for the affected populace.
