Sana'a: The Yemeni Armed Forces have announced a maritime embargo against Saudi Arabia in retaliation for the prolonged blockade imposed by the Saudi forces. This decision aligns with the "blockade for blockade" strategy, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Saudi blockade has been in place for nearly twelve years, severely impacting the Yemeni people by restricting access to essential resources and imposing a comprehensive embargo on Yemeni ports and airports. The blockade, which affects land, sea, and air routes, has exacerbated the suffering of the Yemeni population without any justifiable legal or humanitarian grounds.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have declared their readiness to respond to any further escalation by Saudi Arabia with a proportional response. They emphasized their commitment to the "eye for an eye" approach, where any aggressive actions by Saudi forces will be met with decisive countermeasures. The armed forces also called on the Yemeni population to continue their mobilization efforts and support military fronts with fighters, highlighting the importance of national unity and resistance.
The announcement follows widespread public demonstrations, including a million-man march titled "Friday of Warning and Mobilization," which showcased the Yemeni people's opposition to the Saudi blockade. The Yemeni Armed Forces expressed their determination to restore the rights of the Yemeni people and end the siege, despite the potential consequences.
