Meteorology Forecasts Thundery Rainfall and Sea Disorder

General

Sana'a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecast thundery rainfall of varying intensity, scattered showers across several governorates, and strong winds causing rough seas in the Socotra Archipelago, the Gulf of Aden, and the eastern and southern coasts over the next 24 hours.

According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin indicates that thunderstorms of varying intensity, potentially accompanied by downdrafts and hail, are expected in parts of the governorates of Al Mahwit, Raymah, Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz, Al Dhalea, Al Bayda, and the Tihama Plain. Additionally, scattered rainfall, sometimes with thunder, may occur in parts of the highlands of Saada, Hajjah, Sana'a, Lahj, and Abyan, as well as in the highlands and deserts of the governorates of Al Mahrah, Hadramout, Shabwah, Marib, and Al Jawf.

Active to strong winds are anticipated around the Socotra Archipelago, the Gulf of Aden, and the eastern and southern coastlines. The center has issued warnings to citizens about the sudden flow of torrents in ravines and valleys, urging them to avoid being present in these areas or attempting to cross them. There are also warnings about the dangers of thunderstorms, hail, and severe downdrafts that could stir up dust storms, particularly in deserts and coastal plains.

Drivers on mountainous roads are advised to be cautious of rockfalls, mudslides, and reduced horizontal visibility due to rainfall, low clouds, and fog. Additionally, sea-goers, fishermen, and ship captains have been alerted to the risks of rough seas and high waves.
