China Posts Current Account Surplus of 1.33 Trillion Yuan in Q2

China: China posted a current account surplus of 1.33 trillion yuan in the second quarter of 2026, according to preliminary data released by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange. According to Yemen News Agency, the surplus is equivalent to approximately US$195.1 billion. The data showed that the current account surplus in goods trade reached 1.91 trillion yuan, while trade in services and primary income recorded deficits of 358.4 billion yuan and 257.2 billion yuan, respectively. In contrast, the secondary income account, which includes transfers not directly related to the exchange of goods or services, recorded a surplus of 42.8 billion yuan. The capital and financial account also recorded a deficit of 1.33 trillion yuan in the second quarter, while direct investment in China continued to register net inflows during the period. For the first half of 2026, data showed that China achieved a current account surplus of 2.62 trillion yuan. The goods trade surplus during the first six months of the yea r reached 3.63 trillion yuan, while the services trade recorded a deficit of 772 billion yuan.
