Ashura Commemoration Activities Launched in Shu’ub District

Shu'ub: Activities marking the commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) were launched in Shu'ub District of the Capital Secretariat under the slogan: 'Far be it from us to accept humiliation.'

According to Yemen News Agency, the launch event held in the Al-Jarraf Al-Sharqi neighborhood was attended by First Deputy Governor of the Capital Secretariat Khaled Al-Madani. He highlighted the importance of commemorating Ashura and the lessons it carries in distinguishing truth from falsehood, supporting the oppressed, and confronting the tyrants of the present era.

Al-Madani made a reference to the events of Karbala and linked them to the 'Karbala of the present time' with the martyrdom of Sayyed Leader Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi. He emphasized that one of the greatest misfortunes of a nation is the loss of its great figures.

He further stated that the Yemeni people draw from Ashura strength of position, determination, and resolve, noting that Imam Hussein represents a significant and great symbol of Islam. Al-Madani stressed the importance of raising awareness and insight, and adhering to the values and principles embodied by Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in confronting injustice, deviation, and forces of tyranny and global arrogance.

The First Deputy Governor also reviewed the spiritual and historical significance of this great occasion and the importance of drawing inspiration from the values of sacrifice, steadfastness, and principled stance from the life of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
