Sana'a: The Yemeni Scholars Association convened a meeting titled "No Excuse Before God for Not Supporting Gaza and Palestine" to highlight the religious obligations related to the Palestinian cause and the imperative role of scholars in this context.
According to Yemen News Agency, Judge Alawi bin Aqeel, a member of the Supreme Judicial Council, spoke at the meeting about the critical need to activate the duty of jihad in response to Zionist and American aggression. He underscored the legal responsibility of scholars to clearly convey Islam's stance on the current events and criticized the issuance of fatwas that limit support for Gaza to conditions involving attendance or guardian permission.
The Grand Mufti of Bayda, Sheikh Hussein al-Hadar, addressed the collapse of humanitarian slogans amid the genocide faced by Palestinians. He emphasized the importance of steadfastness and patience, urging for national unity and preparation for jihad as a sacred religious duty.
Sheikh Muhammad Tahir An'am expanded on the concept of jihad, explaining that it encompasses not just fighting but also words, stances, advocacy, and awareness efforts. He stressed the urgency for immediate support for Palestine given the current circumstances.
Scholar Al-Qasim Al-Saraji highlighted the obligation of scholars to defend the nation and unite against occupation, stating that silence in the face of such crimes is contrary to Islamic teachings. He reiterated that jihad is currently an individual obligation for everyone.
The meeting, which saw participation from numerous scholars and leaders, concluded with a unified call to revive the duty of jihad and promote support for Gaza as a religious, moral, and humanitarian responsibility.
