Hodeida: Governor of Hodeida Abdullah Atifi and Acting Head of the Tax and Customs Authority Ibrahim Mahdi inspected the provincial tax office, as well as Qat Sales and Large Taxpayers units.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the visit, the officials were briefed by the heads of the respective offices on workflow, challenges, and solutions to enhance revenue collection and improve tax performance. Discussions were centered around Qat sales taxes, weighing points, issues faced by large taxpayers and traders affected by the ongoing aggression and blockade, and ways to streamline tax collection in line with existing laws.
The officials emphasized organizational and oversight measures to improve transparency and elevate performance in line with national financial development plans and economic stability. Governor Atifi affirmed the local authority's support for the Tax and Customs Authority in overcoming challenges and commended staff efforts in raising revenue despite difficulties.
Acting Head Mahdi highlighted plans to develop collection mechanisms, simplify procedures, and modernize infrastructure, noting that the new Qat Sales Tax building will significantly improve taxpayer services. Mahdi also toured the new Qat Sales Tax facility under construction, receiving updates on its progress and the enhanced services it will provide.
