Al-mahwit: Attorney General Judge Abdulsalam Al-Houthi conducted an inspection of public prosecutions and the conditions of prisoners pending criminal cases in the governorates of Al-Mahwit and Al-Hodeidah.
According to Yemen News Agency, Judge Al-Houthi engaged with local authorities, including the governor, to explore enhancing cooperation to reinforce the rule of law and justice. The discussions included plans for a new headquarters for the Khamis Bani Sa'd prosecution office and highlighted the need for coordination between local authorities and the judiciary to maintain security, stability, and public trust.
The Attorney General also reviewed conditions at the Central Correctional Facility, where he discussed with the head of the joint committee for prisons, prosecutors, and specialists the cases of prisoners eligible for release. This review focused on those who qualify for release based on legal guarantees or have served three-quarters of their sentence for non-dangerous crimes. He also took the opportunity to listen to prisoners' complaints and requests.
During his visit, Judge Al-Houthi assessed vocational workshops and facilities available to inmates, emphasizing the importance of financial support and necessary resources to train prisoners. The discussions highlighted the significance of cultural rehabilitation as a key component in preparing prisoners for reintegration into society.
Judge Al-Houthi reiterated the ongoing efforts to release eligible prisoners across the republic, underscoring that such actions are in accordance with the law and demonstrate the Public Prosecution's dedication to human rights, justice, and compassion.
