Attorney General Inspects Dhamar Prison, Orders Inmate Releases for Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday

Dhamar: Attorney General Judge Abdul Salam Al-Houthi inspected the conditions of inmates at the Central Correctional Facility in Dhamar Governorate and directed the release of eligible prisoners on the occasion of the Prophet Mohammed's birthday.

According to Yemen News Agency, during the visit, Al-Houthi met with Dhamar Governor Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti and senior judicial, grievance, and security officials. They discussed the coordination between the Public Prosecution, local authorities, and security agencies to uphold the rule of law and expedite prisoners' cases.

Al-Houthi reviewed inmates' records and judicial decisions, listened to male, female, and juvenile prisoners about their detention periods, and examined the conditions of indigent and sick inmates. He directed the release of several prisoners by pardoning the remainder of their sentences.

The visit also included the opening of a health isolation center at the facility. Al-Houthi stated that the releases followed directives issued by Ansarullah leader Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi and the President of the Supreme Political Council. This action was described as a humanitarian gesture reflecting the values of tolerance and mercy associated with the Prophet Mohammed.

He urged those released to utilize the pardon by becoming law-abiding citizens who contribute positively to society. He emphasized that the occasion provides an opportunity for repentance, reform, and a fresh start.
