Sanaa: Britain's largest natural gas storage facility is on the brink of closure as Centrica, the operator and owner of British Gas, seeks government support to keep it operational. The facility, located off the coast of Yorkshire in the North Sea, is critical to the UK's energy infrastructure. However, Centrica has warned that without government intervention, it may have to decommission the site. According to Yemen News Agency, Centrica has been in discussions with government ministers about potential cooperation to expand and modernize the Rove facility. The company halted natural gas flows to the site last month, citing concerns over its economic viability. The Rove facility, which typically starts receiving fuel in the spring, had not begun operations by mid-April this year. Centrica's CEO Chris O'Shea highlighted the financial challenges faced by the facility during an interview with Laura Kuenssberg on Sunday. He stated that, despite being a large company, Centrica anticipates a loss of around £100 mi llion from the facility this year due to its operational costs exceeding revenue. The company's appeal for government support underscores the importance of the facility and the financial strain it faces in the current economic climate.
