Taiz: A training workshop aimed at building institutional and technical capacities for directors of agriculture sector branches and extension units in cooperative associations concluded on Thursday in Taiz Governorate. The workshop covered the districts of Khadir, Maqbanah, Mawiyah, Al-Ta'iziyah, and Al-Silu.
According to Yemen News Agency, the workshop was organized over four days and funded by the local authority in the governorate through the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit. It aimed to train and qualify 39 participants who are directors of agriculture branches and extension units in cooperative associations within the model districts. The workshop focused on equipping trainees with the necessary skills and expertise to enhance their capabilities in providing quality extension services to farmers. This contributes to improving the efficiency of agricultural and animal production in the target districts, ultimately working towards achieving self-sufficiency and reducing the import bill.
During the closing ceremony, attended by the Director of Training at the General Administration for Extension Programs and Activities, Eng. Mohammed Abutalib, the Director of the Agricultural Extension Department, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ahmadi, highlighted the importance of the workshop in supporting programs and directions aimed at advancing the agricultural sector across all districts of the governorate. He emphasized that qualifying extension personnel in the model districts represents the cornerstone of the agricultural transformation project the governorate is witnessing.
For his part, the Extension Coordinator for the Southern Region, Eng. Mansour Al-Hamadi, explained that the workshop focused on unifying extension efforts in the model districts of the governorate. This ensures optimal utilization of available resources and the adoption of modern agricultural methods that contribute to reducing costs, increasing productivity, and improving the quality of various crops.
