China’s Postal Industry Revenue Reaches $65.5 Billion in Q1

Sana'a: China's postal industry saw steady growth in the first quarter of 2026, with both revenue and delivery volume expanding. Data released by the China Post Group on Wednesday showed that the postal sector generated 449.27 billion yuan (approximately $65.5 billion) in commercial revenue from January to March, a 5.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to Xinhua News Agency.

According to Yemen News Agency, express delivery service revenue reached 369.02 billion yuan, marking a 6.8 percent increase. During the same period, the sector handled 51.9 billion parcels, representing a 4.5 percent year-on-year increase. Of this total, express parcels accounted for 47.73 billion units, a 5.8 percent increase.

In March alone, the postal industry's revenue reached 157.29 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.1 percent, while revenue from express delivery services rose 4.7 percent to 130.47 billion yuan. Parcel volume reached 18.76 billion units, a 2.7 percent increase, including 17.24 billion express parcels, a 3.5 percent increase.

Separate, recent official data showed that retail sales growth for consumer goods rose 0.7 percentage points compared to the last three months of 2025, indicating a recovery in consumption as the world's second-largest economy grew by 5 percent in the first three months of 2026, exceeding the forecasts of some foreign institutions.
