Sana'a: The body of the late journalist Abdulqawi Al-Ameeri, a writer for the 26 September newspaper, was laid to rest today in Sana'a during an official and public funeral procession, following a life devoted to serving the nation.
According to Yemen News Agency, the funeral was attended by Taiz Deputy Governor Engineer Taha Al-Buraihi, former President of Taiz University Dr Mohammed Al-Soufi, and Head of Taiz University's Houban branch Dr Ahmed Al-Ameeri, alongside journalists, media professionals, family members, and relatives. Mourners praised the late Al-Ameeri's role in enriching the media landscape through his writings and political analyses aimed at strengthening public awareness.
They noted that Yemeni media has lost with his passing one of its free and patriotic voices, an individual that faithfully carried the concerns of the homeland, the people, and the Arab and Islamic nation with responsibility, integrity, and professional journalistic ethics throughout his work at the 26 September newspaper and its website, as well as his contributions to several national media outlets.
The body of the late journalist was buried at Majel Al-Dimmah cemetery after funeral prayers were held at Al-Kumaim Mosque in the capital Sana'a.
