Beijing: Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce, Li Zhenggang, confirmed that China and the United States held in-depth, rational, professional, and candid trade talks. These discussions took place over two days of intensive negotiations in London, where both nations aimed to address ongoing trade tensions and find common ground. According to Yemen News Agency, the discussions resulted in an agreement on a "basic framework for implementing the consensus" reached earlier during a phone conversation on June 5 between the leaders of the two countries, as well as in previous trade talks in Geneva. This framework is seen as a critical step towards resolving some of the trade disputes that have strained relations between the two economic giants. US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick highlighted that US and Chinese officials have agreed on a framework to suspend reciprocal trade measures. This framework also addresses the resolution of Chinese export restrictions on rare earth minerals and magnets, which have been a point of contention in recent trade relations. Previously, US President Donald Trump had described these talks as an attempt to resolve trade disputes between Washington and Beijing. These tensions have been a significant concern for both countries, impacting trade and economic cooperation. White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt mentioned that the recent phone call between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping was productive and useful. She emphasized that Washington continues to maintain its strategic interests in China's economy and market. President Trump also announced that both countries are making efforts to resolve the dispute over rare earth mineral supplies. Teams from both nations are expected to meet to further discuss this critical issue, which has implications for various industries. President Xi Jinping underscored the importance of Washington exercising caution on the Taiwan issue, warning against allowing pro-independence separatists to escalate tensions between Beijing and Wa shington. In a move aimed at reducing tensions, the United States and China agreed to suspend mutual 24% tariffs for 90 days. This temporary suspension is intended to create a more conducive environment for resolving the ongoing trade disputes and fostering better bilateral relations.
