Civilians Suffer as US-Saudi-Emirati Aggression Marks Grim Anniversary in Yemen

Sana'a: On this day, June 7, dozens of civilians were killed and injured as a result of actions deemed war crimes committed by the US-Saudi-Emirati coalition against the Yemeni people across several governorates. According to Yemen News Agency, on June 7, 2015, airstrikes by coalition aircraft resulted in the deaths of 44 civilians and injuries to more than 100 others, including women and children. The attacks targeted the Supreme Command of the Armed Forces building in the Al-Tahrir area in central Sana'a, leading to the destruction and damage of numerous civilian homes. In Hajjah Governorate, the death toll from airstrikes on different civilian structures rose to 39 killed and 20 injured after additional bodies were recovered. In the following years, similar patterns of aggression continued. On June 7, 2016, coalition aircraft launched airstrikes on several strategic and civilian areas, including the Hailan Mountain in Marib Governorate and various districts in Saada, Amran, and Sana'a. The attacks caused significant damage to civilian properties. The violence persisted on June 7, 2017, when coalition forces carried out airstrikes on multiple districts, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to property. The pattern of airstrikes and artillery shelling continued in subsequent years, with intense military actions reported on June 7, 2018, 2019, and 2020, causing numerous deaths and injuries. On June 7, 2021, reports indicated that coalition-affiliated forces targeted civilian homes, resulting in the death and injury of several civilians, including women and children. The attacks extended to various governorates, where artillery and airstrikes were reported. Most recently, on June 7, 2023, a tragic incident occurred when unexploded ordnance detonated in Al-Hali District of Al-Hodeida Governorate, resulting in the deaths of a woman and a child. Coalition-affiliated forces continued their aggression by launching airstrikes and establishing new military fortifications in multiple areas. These events highli ght the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the severe impact of the conflict on Yemeni civilians, who continue to bear the brunt of prolonged aggression.
