Closing of Training Workshop for Media Personnel and Mobilization Activists in Ibb

Sanaa: A training workshop for 150 participants concluded on Sunday in Ibb Governorate, including staff from the Media Office, representatives of official and national media outlets, mobilization cadres, and social media activists in the governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, the two-day workshop aimed to organize and develop media performance and enhance media readiness as part of preparations for the upcoming phase, in line with political and field developments, to strengthen the presence of media discourse across various platforms and channels.

At the closing session, Ibb Governor Abdulwahed Salah emphasized the importance of strengthening the media role in confronting what he described as misinformation and false narratives promoted by adversaries. He stressed the need to improve the professional performance of journalists in line with current requirements, affirming the local authority's commitment to supporting and qualifying media personnel and developing their capabilities to enhance public awareness and keep pace with official and popular activities.

The governor also highlighted the key role of media in shaping public opinion, mobilizing community energies, and directing efforts toward national issues, calling for broader cooperation among journalists and activists and for teamwork spirit.

At the closing ceremony, attended by Member of Parliament Dr. Ali Al-Zanam, Deputy Minister of Information Ahmed Al-Shami stated that community media has become an important contributor to shaping public awareness through social media platforms. He stressed the importance of organizing and developing this role to serve development, freedom, and independence issues.

For his part, Mobilization Official in the governorate Abdulfattah Ghalab stressed the importance of national media in confronting misinformation campaigns, despite the capabilities of the opposing side, praising the role of media professionals in this regard. He considered the appreciation of the revolutionary and media leadership for journalists an important incentive to continue their national mission, strengthen their presence in confronting hostile media campaigns, and unify media efforts across platforms.

Ghalab also emphasized the importance of developing community media, linking it to daily realities, and enhancing coordination among various media actors to ensure a unified and effective discourse in facing political and media challenges.

Ibb Media Office Director Abdulbasit Al-Nuwah summarized the main challenges facing media work in the current phase at the end of the workshop. He stressed adherence to professional and ethical principles in media practice and launching qualitative initiatives that enhance media presence in covering achievements and various activities.
