Dhamar Hosts Cultural Event to Commemorate Ashura and Martyrdom of Imams

Dhamar: The agriculture and tourism sectors in Dhamar governorate, in cooperation with the General Foundation for the Multiplication of Improved Seeds, organized a cultural event today to commemorate Ashura and the martyrdom of Imams Hussein and Zayd bin Ali, peace be upon them.

According to Yemen News Agency, the head of the tourism sector, Ibrahim Al-Maqdashi, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of the event as a moment to derive inspiration from the values of sacrifice, steadfastness, and resistance to injustice. He highlighted how these principles, personified during the martyrdom of the Imams, remain embedded in the conscience of the Islamic nation.

Al-Maqdashi reflected on the lasting legacy of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, during the Battle of Karbala, noting his refusal to succumb to oppression. He remarked that Imam Hussein's defiance has become a symbol of dignity and truth, with Imam Zayd bin Ali continuing on this path through his revolt against injustice and advocacy for righteousness until his martyrdom.

He also emphasized that commemorating these historical events strengthens collective awareness and a sense of responsibility. It reinforces the commitment to Islamic values while underlining the significance of following the Imams' example in defending truth and justice.

As the anniversary is observed in Yemen, Al-Maqdashi reaffirmed the nation's support for the Palestinian cause and its opposition to aggression against the Palestinian people, stressing Yemen's continued solidarity with national causes and support for efforts aimed at confronting occupation and defending legitimate rights.

Al-Maqdashi urged for ongoing awareness and mobilization activities, along with increased unity and solidarity, to strengthen the values of steadfastness and independence. He emphasized loyalty to the sacrifices of the martyrs, the injured, and prisoners, and highlighted the importance of working towards security and stability while safeguarding the sovereignty and independence of the homeland.
