Conclusion of In-Kind Zakat Distribution Project for 23,000 Families in Hodeidah Governorate

Hodeidah: The office of the General Zakat Authority in Hodeidah Governorate concluded today the project for distributing in-kind zakat “crops and fruits” to the poor and needy across all districts of the governorate for the year 1447 AH, under the slogan “And give its due on the day of its harvest.”



According to Yemen News Agency, the project targeted 23,000 families in various districts of the governorate, with 23,000 measures of various types of grains, as part of the Authority’s plan to activate the channel of crops and fruits and disburse zakat in its legitimate channels.



At the concluding event in the Al-Kadan area, the Governor of Hodeidah, Abdullah Atifi, affirmed that the implementation of this project embodies the greatness of the third pillar of Islam and its role in enhancing social solidarity. He noted that the delivery of in-kind zakat of grains to its beneficiaries in various districts reflects a sense of responsibility before God and society.



He pointed out that Hodeidah Governorate, thanks to the solidarity of its people and the efforts of the Zakat Authority, is taking steps towards achieving the principle of solidarity that God has commanded. He praised the role of the farmers who took the initiative to pay God’s right on their crops and fruits, which contributed to meeting the needs of thousands of poor and needy families under the current circumstances.



Atifi praised the steadfastness of the people of Hodeidah and their continuation on the front of agricultural production, considering the distribution of 23,000 measures of various types of grains a message that the Yemeni people are capable of facing challenges by returning to God’s guidance and applying His obligations.



He called on all those liable to zakat to continue paying their zakat to the Zakat Authority as the safe channel to deliver rights to their beneficiaries.



The Governor of Hodeidah praised the vision of the General Zakat Authority in expanding the scope of zakat projects to include all humanitarian and empowerment aspects, contributing to transforming poor families into productive ones, affirming the full support of the local authority for all activities and projects of the Zakat Authority in the governorate.



At the conclusion, attended by the Deputy Governor, Ahmed Al-Qadimi, the Deputy Head of the General Zakat Authority, Ali Al-Saqqaf, expressed thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this zakat season, especially the field cadres who worked as one team to deliver God’s right to its beneficiaries.



He affirmed that the Authority is moving forward in implementing projects that touch the suffering of citizens and embody the legitimate channels of zakat with all honesty and transparency, pointing out that this project comes within a series of projects aimed at reviving the third pillar and distributing it in the place of its harvest.



Al-Saqqaf noted that the Zakat Authority, through these in-kind projects, seeks to enhance faith identity and connection with God, praising the efforts of the Authority’s office in Hodeidah and the community committees in identifying and distributing in-kind zakat and ensuring its delivery to its actual beneficiaries in remote areas.



He affirmed the Authority’s keenness to develop work mechanisms and enhance community partnership to contribute to expanding the circle of benefiting from zakat projects and alleviating living burdens on the poor and needy.



For his part, the Director of the Zakat Authority office in the governorate, Mohammed Hazza’, explained that the in-kind zakat project targeted 23,000 poor and needy families in all districts of the governorate, with 23,000 measures of various grains, at a total value of 228 million riyals.



He considered the project’s success a result of cooperation between the Authority’s office, the local authority, and farmers, affirming that the distribution process included all sub-districts and villages in the targeted districts to ensure justice and comprehensiveness.



Hazza’ noted that the “Crops and Fruits” project reflects the blessing that befalls the land when its zakat is paid, as the governorate witnessed interaction from farmers, which enabled the office to reach this large number of beneficiaries and distribute various types of grains “corn, millet, and others.”



He stated that the project was implemented through specialized teams and committees that collected in-kind zakat from farmers according to legal and legitimate controls, and then distributed it to beneficiaries in various districts, explaining that the office focused on targeting the poorest families, especially in rural areas, to ensure fairness of distribution and achieve the direct impact of the project.
