Al-zuhrah: Two free eye medical camps-the 18th and 19th-organized by Grameen Yemen Foundation in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the governorate's Health Office, have concluded in Al-Zuhrah District, Al-Hodeidah Governorate. The eight-day camps provided examination and diagnostic services to 2,500 patients from the Ma'ras area and surrounding regions.
According to Yemen News Agency, Abdulkhaliq Al-Khumaisi, director of the medical camp, stated that 745 successful surgeries were performed during the two camps to remove cataracts and implant intraocular lenses. The operations were carried out under the supervision of Professor Yahya Al-Ghassali and a team of ophthalmologists and consultants. In addition, free medications were distributed to all beneficiaries.
He noted that the 18th camp witnessed a high turnout, which prompted the immediate launch of the 19th camp. He explained that these efforts fall within ongoing humanitarian and medical programs aimed at easing patients' suffering and improving their health conditions.
Al-Khumaisi added that Camps 18 and 19 follow 17 previous camps organized by the Grameen Yemen Medical Center, during which over 5,000 free cataract removal and lens-implant surgeries were performed for low-income and vulnerable patients.
