Sanaa: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Abdul Wahid Abu Ras met with Christine Cipolla, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission in Sanaa, to discuss the latest developments concerning the prisoners file.
According to Yemen News Agency, Abu Ras received a briefing from Cipolla regarding the negotiations held in Amman, Jordan, and the resulting agreement. The discussion also covered the ICRC's plan for the upcoming prisoner release process. Abu Ras conveyed the Change and Construction government's appreciation for the ICRC's role in facilitating the agreement, emphasizing that the prisoners file remains a priority for both the revolutionary and political leadership.
Abu Ras highlighted the importance of the agreement in advancing the resolution of other humanitarian issues and in contributing towards ending the aggression and siege on Yemen, ultimately aiming for a just and sustainable peace. He reiterated Sanaa's commitment to implementing the agreement and ensuring all necessary facilities are available for its success.
During the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister presented a letter to Cipolla addressed to Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the ICRC, expressing gratitude for the organization's humanitarian efforts and inviting her to visit Sanaa to witness firsthand the challenges faced by the Yemeni people. Abu Ras affirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' readiness to support the ICRC mission and its staff.
Christine Cipolla, on her part, confirmed the mission's commitment to offering all possible support to the Yemeni people and commended the ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant government bodies.
