Deputy Minister Aqabat Reviews Yemeni Deaf Sports Union’s Progress

Sana'a: The Deputy Minister of Social Affairs and Labor for the Services and Social Care Sector, Mohammed Aqabat, today reviewed the activities of the Yemeni Deaf Sports Union, its programs, and its role in supporting and empowering the deaf community and enhancing their sporting presence at the local and international levels.

According to Yemen News Agency, during the visit, Deputy Minister Oqabat listened to the head of the union, Ahmed Al Qamra, who gave a detailed explanation of the union's most prominent activities and events, the efforts made to develop deaf sports, as well as external participations and Yemen's honorable representation in international forums and regional and international championships.

The Deputy Minister of Social Affairs praised the role of the Yemeni Deaf Sports Union and its achievements in representing Yemen honorably in international tournaments, expressing his appreciation for the union's efforts and its accomplishments and presence that reflect the will and ambition of deaf athletes. He pointed out the ministry's keenness to support various unions and associations concerned with people with disabilities and to enhance partnership with them to serve this important segment of society.

For his part, the head of the Deaf Sports Union, Al Qamra, affirmed the union's endeavor to expand its sports and rehabilitation programs, contributing to discovering sporting talents among the deaf community and enabling them to achieve an active and distinguished presence despite challenges and limited capabilities.

At the conclusion of the visit, the head of the union, Al Qamra, presented the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs and Labor with a commemorative shield for his efforts in the success of the fourth Republic Athletics Championship and the ninth Chess Championship, which was received by Deputy Minister Oqabat.
