Sana’a: The Deputy of the Economic Empowerment and Production Development Sector at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Dr. Al-Hassan Al-Dhari, met on Monday with the Vice Chairwoman of the Deaf and Mute Association, Firdous Al-Ezzedine, and the Association’s Secretary-General, Iyad Al-Wael, to discuss the association’s needs regarding economic empowerment programs and projects supervised by the sector.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting focused on strategies to support and economically empower individuals with hearing and speech disabilities. This initiative aims to enhance their participation in development efforts, aligning with directives from the Revolution Leader and the President of the Supreme Political Council. It also falls within the sector’s mandate to broaden employment and production opportunities.
Dr. Al-Dhari emphasized the importance of integrating the deaf and mute community into economic empowerment programs. He pointed out that this community represents an active segment of society, possessing the capabilities necessary for contributing to development and nation-building.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to bolster cooperation between the Ministry and the Association. This includes plans to incorporate the deaf and mute community into future economic empowerment plans and programs. Coordination with funding and implementing agencies will be crucial to providing suitable support projects and opportunities tailored to their specific needs and abilities.
