Sana'a: A meeting held on Sunday brought together Deputy Minister of Local Administration and Rural Development Nasser Al-Mahdhar and Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulmajeed Al-Murtada to discuss aspects related to organizing the work of neighborhood and district heads.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, attended by the Director of Security of the Capital Secretariat Major General Muammar Harash and a number of officials from the Ministry of Local Administration and Rural Development, reviewed the tasks and responsibilities of neighborhood heads, particularly their role in advancing local and rural development, improving services, and maintaining public security and stability.
Participants stressed the vital role played by neighborhood, district, and village heads in mobilization and community engagement, especially in establishing and developing cooperative associations, activating initiatives in various development and service sectors, improving services for citizens, and preserving public security.
They also emphasized the need to clearly define, study, and evaluate the duties and responsibilities of neighborhood heads to organize and enhance their work in a way that strengthens their role in serving the community.
The meeting approved the formation of a joint team from the two ministries to conduct a field assessment of the duties and responsibilities of neighborhood heads, and to develop a unified mechanism to regulate their work and improve their roles in development, service, and security aspects.
