Dhamar Association Distributes 3,000 Fruit Seedlings to Local Farmers

Dhamar: The Makhlaaf Munqidha Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Association in Dhamar province has initiated the distribution of 3,000 fruit seedlings to farmers located in 14 villages across Makhlaaf Munqidha.

According to Yemen News Agency, Eng. Hafez Al-Junaid, Deputy Director of the Agricultural Sector in the province, highlighted the significance of this initiative, which aims to expand the cultivation of economically beneficial fruit trees. This endeavor is part of a broader strategy to encourage farmers to increase fruit tree cultivation and adopt intercropping in qat farms, ultimately transitioning from qat to fruit production.

Eng. Al-Junaid emphasized the necessity for collective efforts to ensure the success and expansion of these projects. The initiative aligns with directives aimed at achieving food security, self-sufficiency, and eventually exporting surplus produce. Eng. Ahmed Shukhb, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Makhlaaf Munqidha Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Association, elaborated on the association's plans to support farmers in broadening fruit cultivation. He acknowledged the support received from the agricultural sector, the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund, and local authorities in providing fruit seedlings.

The distributed seedlings include grapes, figs, guavas, and pomegranates, benefiting farmers affiliated with the association across the designated villages. The distribution event was attended by several notable figures, including Eng. Ibrahim Al-Mahdi, Director of the Agricultural Branch in Dhamar City, Association Secretary-General Muthanna Mansour, Executive Director Eng. Mohammed Al-Munqidhi, and Head of the Initiatives Committee Ali Al-Hasisi.
