Sana’a: A meeting in Sana’a, chaired by Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan Al-Saadi, discussed the mechanism by which postgraduate programs at private universities were evaluated.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research Dr. Hatem Al-Dais, Undersecretary of the Higher Education Sector Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, Chairman of the Higher Supervisory Committee for Evaluation Dr. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, Chairman of the Academic Accreditation Council Dr. Ahmed Al-Haboub, and the heads of private universities. The attendees reviewed the steps and procedures taken to evaluate postgraduate programs in private universities with the goal of adjusting and correcting conditions of these programs to ensure quality outputs capable of contributing to development.
At the meeting, Minister Al-Saadi emphasized that the results of the evaluation were aimed at improving the quality and development of the educational process and scientific research. He clarified that the purpose of the evaluation is to address imbalances and shortcomings, not to exclude or catch mistakes.
Minister Al-Saadi noted that the ministry will deliver a copy of the evaluation reports of postgraduate programs in private higher education institutions to the presidents of private universities. This will allow them to review the observations and recommendations contained in them, respond to them for submission to the Supreme Supervisory Committee for evaluation, and submit the final result to the ministry’s leadership for approval and implementation.
Deputy Minister Dr. Hatem Al-Dais stressed the importance of taking the observations and recommendations in the report seriously, emphasizing the need for follow-up and continuous evaluation of postgraduate programs to improve the educational process. He called on universities to cooperate with the ministry and provide it with student data, recording it in the IT center to support their postgraduate studies.
In their remarks, Dr. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Haboub reviewed the steps followed in the evaluation of postgraduate programs in private universities. They urged adherence to professionally approved standards and noted that evaluation reports will be delivered to the presidents of private universities starting next Saturday, allowing them to respond to the recommendations and observations in the report before the final results are announced.
