Sana'a: A meeting held in Sana'a, chaired by the Acting Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Sam Al-Bashiri, reviewed the implementation level of tasks and procedures, as well as the development and modernization plan of the Yemeni Authority for Specifications, Measurements, and Quality Control for the year 1448 AH.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by the Executive Director of the Authority, Abdullah Al-Atifi. It addressed the implementation level of work, the facilitation and acceleration of procedures at ports, customs centers, and branches, and inspection and control procedures for food and non-food commodities.
Al-Atifi presented the executive steps for developing laboratories and the automation of inspection and control mechanisms for imported and locally manufactured goods and products, alongside the simplification and facilitation of procedures.
The Acting Minister of Economy emphasized the importance of raising the efficiency of inspections and audits to ensure the provision of safe goods that conform to standard specifications in local markets, thus protecting consumers and their health.
He highlighted the necessity of establishing a mutual trust relationship between the Authority and the private sector by facilitating procedures for local producers, traders, and importers. This approach aims to enhance the industrial, commercial, and investment business environment without compromising technical standards and required quality conditions.
Al-Bashiri also pointed out the pivotal role of the Authority in supporting local products by providing consultations and technical support to factories and national production facilities. This support is crucial for improving local product quality, enhancing their competitiveness in markets, and supporting plans to localize national industries while reducing dependence on imports.
