Discussion of Joint Cooperation Prospects Between Ministry of Agriculture & Sana’a University

Sana'a: A meeting held today in Sana'a, bringing together the Acting Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, Ammar Al-Karim, and the President of Sana'a University, Dr. Mohammed Al-Bukhayti, discussed the prospects of cooperation between the Ministry and the University to serve the priorities of sustainable agricultural development and to elevate the level of educational and scientific research outputs.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting reviewed a number of themes related to the development of the educational and applied infrastructure at the Faculty of Agriculture, foremost among them the rehabilitation of laboratories and labs, the enhancement of practical training programs, the updating of academic curricula, and the development of the faculty's educational farm to serve as a training and research platform that contributes to improving the efficiency of agricultural education outputs and keeping pace with sustainable development requirements.

The meeting, attended by the Ministry's Deputy Ministers for the Livestock Sector, Dr. Abdulraouf Al-Shawkani, and for Land Reclamation and Water Resources, Ali Qadi, also addressed the conditions of agricultural students residing in university housing and ways to provide the necessary needs and services for them.

The Acting Minister of Agriculture praised the pioneering role undertaken by Sana'a University in preparing and qualifying national cadres and supplying various sectors with specialized scientific competencies. He emphasized the importance of building an effective partnership between the Ministry and the University to develop the educational and research process in agricultural fields, and to direct graduation projects and applied research towards addressing field challenges and the needs of the agricultural sector.

Al-Karim pointed to the necessity of updating the academic plans and programs at the Faculty of Agriculture to keep pace with scientific developments and labor market requirements, and to expand practical training and qualification programs for students, linking them to productive, extension, and developmental activities.

For his part, the President of Sana'a University affirmed the University's commitment to developing the agricultural education system and strengthening its connection to developmental reality. He noted the direction to form a joint coordination committee between the University and the Ministry to review and update study plans, organize field visits and training programs, and expand areas of cooperation with relevant entities.

Additionally, the Acting Minister of Agriculture and the President of Sana'a University, accompanied by the Vice President of Ibb University, Dr. Ahmed Abu Lahoum, and the Director of University Housing, Mohsen Al-Mahabishi, inspected the level of services and facilities provided to students in the university housing at Sana'a University, and listened to their needs.
