The meeting discussed several initiatives and studies, including a study by the Executive Agricultural Unit on establishing cotton processing facilities, mechanisms for marketing local products, developing competitive brands for markets, promoting them in commercial centers, and strengthening partnerships with the private sector.
It also addressed efforts to establish cooperative societies across the Capital Secretariat, implement training courses and workshops, and benefit from successful experiences in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, in a way that enhances and expands cooperative work.
Deputy Head Al-Naqeeb stressed the importance of economic empowerment at this stage, noting that the transformations the country is witnessing require building a national economy based on production and strengthening the role of society across various fields to support national resilience.
He explained that transitioning toward a productive society is a strategic choice, and that agriculture represents the main pillar of the national economy, pointing to successes achieved in reducing import bills in several value chains, including poultry, dates, cattle, and garlic, reaching self-sufficiency in some of them.
Al-Naqeeb highlighted the need to complete the remaining value chains and enhance the role of local authorities in supporting economic empowerment programs and activating cooperative work, contributing to improving living standards and creating sustainable job opportunities.
For his part, Deputy Head of the Financial Sector Noaman presented a study on economic empowerment for productive families, which included models of cooperation between the government and cooperative societies, as well as partnerships with the private sector. The study emphasized the importance of mobilizing the local community, contributing to poverty reduction, and enhancing the private sector's social responsibility.
He also pointed to the importance of establishing training and qualification centers, developing existing industries such as tanneries, organizing them, improving their productivity, and completing field surveys of available opportunities and resources.
The meeting concluded with several recommendations, including preparing detailed reports by relevant entities on completed and ongoing projects and future plans, evaluating the outcomes of agricultural exhibitions, festivals, and preparing for a broader meeting with the participation of relevant stakeholders.
This meeting comes within the framework of regular meetings held by the team in the Capital Secretariat to follow up on the implementation of development and cooperative work plans and to strengthen community partnerships in support of sustainable development.
