Ibb: The Subcommittee for Monitoring Prisoners' Conditions in Ibb Governorate held a meeting on Sunday, chaired by the Chief Judge of the Governorate's Court of Appeal, Abdulrahman Al-Nazili. The meeting focused on the legal procedures for the release of indebted and financially distressed prisoners, following the directives of the Leader of the Revolution on the occasion of the Prophet's Birthday.
According to Yemen News Agency, attendees included the Director of the Ibb Branch of the Grievances Authority, Yahya Al-Qasimi, the Director of the Central Correctional Facility, Brigadier Anwar Al-Mutawakkil, and the Leader of the Revolution's representative, Sheikh Ali Qarsha. They reviewed lists approved by the Joint Committee for Monitoring Prison Conditions, emphasizing the need to expedite file reviews and complete legal procedures for prisoners with clear records.
The meeting also addressed lists from the Grievances Authority branch, detailing 174 financially distressed prisoners who have served extended periods in prison. These lists included cases approved by the Zakat Authority and files needing additional documentation to meet Zakat standards, allowing eligible prisoners to be included in future release lists.
A specialized team was approved, comprising representatives from the public prosecution, Court of Appeal, and the Zakat and Grievances Authorities. Their task is to correct files, prepare eligible prisoners for release, and coordinate with relatives for necessary guarantees.
During the meeting, the Chief Judge emphasized that the release aligns with the Leader of the Revolution's directives to establish justice and support the oppressed. He highlighted the urgency of completing missing documents and guarantees before the Prophet's Birthday.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Grievances Authority branch stressed the importance of prioritizing financially distressed prisoners' files within the General Zakat Authority. He praised the Zakat Authority branch's efforts in identifying prisoners with financial obligations and resolving pending cases.
Sheikh Ali Qarsha called for organizing the release of prisoners and handing them to their families post-completion of official procedures. He urged coordination among authorities for timely file completion and encouraged contributions from businessmen and philanthropists to aid indebted prisoners' return to their families.
